Neoprene Foam and Sponge Suppliers
Kirkfield is a leading neoprene foam manufacturer in the UK, providing neoprene foam in a range of shapes and thicknesses. Neoprene variants have different characteristics which make them suitable for different applications. Neoprene foam is also known as neoprene sponge and has a high resistance to oil and chemicals including hydrocarbon solvents.
Neoprene Foam Properties
As closed-cell expanded foam, Neoprene sponge or foam is air-tight and water-tight, making it excellent for sealing applications.
Neoprene foam is soft, stretchable, weather-resistant and ozone-resistant, so can be used outdoors and weather-proofing without degrading.
Neoprene is also:
- Highly durable and will not go brittle over time
- Flexible
- Resistant to water, oil and other solvents
- A thermal insulator
- Relatively cheap
- Flame-retardant
Applications of Neoprene Foam Sheet
We manufacture Neoprene foam in sheet, adhesive-backed strips, continuous rolls, or custom gasket shapes for all industries and applications. The properties of neoprene sponge or neoprene foam make it an excellent material for:
- Automotive, electronic and construction applications
- Jointing expansion
- Weather strips
- Glazing seals
- Closure seals
- Shock absorbers
- Garage door seals
- Air-flow control
- Cushioning and antivibration
Supplier of small and large quantities of Neoprene Foam
We supply neoprene foam products in bulk or in small quantities for prototyping. You can order a free sample of our neoprene foam through our enquiry form to ensure the material is right for your application before making an order.
Thicknesses Available for Neoprene Foam
We are able to split our neoprene foam products to any thickness between 1mm and 60mm. With other 30 years of experience and continual investment in our capabilities, we convert our foam rubber materials on the tightest of tolerances to create pads, coils, gaskets, strips and more to meet our clients’ exact specifications.
Bespoke and Custom Neoprene Foam Suppliers
Whether it’s a mouse mat or a gasket, our customers often ask for custom shapes. So that you can be certain of an identical shape each time, we cut custom shapes from sheets of any thickness using CNC and die manufacturing processes. At Kirkfield are able to create neoprene foam shapes that meet your exact requirements and apply self-adhesive backing and single or double-sided coatings to support easy use.
Neoprene Foam FAQs
What is Neoprene Foam?
Neoprene foam or neoprene sponge is an expanded foam made from neoprene rubber. Neoprene is a synthetic elastomer (a polymer with elastic properties) made from chloroprene. All neoprene variants have heat and chemical resistance.
What is Neoprene Sponge used for?
Neoprene sponge, also called neoprene foam, is used for gaskets, weather stripping, glazing seals, closure seals, shock absorbers, garage door seals, air-flow control strips and cushioning and antivibration pads. We supply neoprene foam for the automotive, agricultural, aerospace, marine and construction industries.
Is Neoprene Foam Safe?
Generally, neoprene is a safe substance for most people. On rare occasions, some people can experience allergic reactions such as contact dermatitis when in prolonged contact with neoprene, which presents as itching, swelling, and skin eruptions, as well as miliaria rubra (prickly heat) which is characterised by a raised red rash and a tingling or burning sensation. This reaction is generally thought to be caused by accelerants used in manufacturing.
What are the main features of Neoprene Foam?
Neoprene foam’s main features are that it is:
- Soft
- Flexible
- Chemical resistant
- Closed-cell foam
- Air-tight
- Water-tight
- Waterproof
- Weather, ozone, UV resistant
- Flame-retardant
- Durable
- Heat resistant.
What grades of thickness can Neoprene Foam be supplied in?
We supply neoprene foam sheets and shapes in any thickness between 1mm and 60mm to a tight tolerance.
