PVC Foam Manufacturers
PVC Foam is a lightweight, versatile and easy-to-use material. It is relatively soft and flexible, providing cushioning and absorption for high-vibration situations such as around industrial machinery. At Kirkfield Ltd, we manufacture foam PVC from liquid polyvinylchloride to create this closed-cell foam for industrial and commercial use. We can supply PVC foam in sheets, rolls, adhesive strips or gaskets depending on customer specifications.
The different characteristics of PVC Foam
The properties of PVC foam are many, making it extremely versatile in many different situations.
- Water-resistant: PVC foam doesn’t absorb or react to water. It will not swell or lose its shape when wet. PVC foam is a closed-cell foam, suitable for outdoor and marine use, as well as creating water-tight seals.
- Corrosion-resistant: Because it is a non-reactive material, PVC foam will not corrode when in contact with chemicals, oils or solvents.
- Heat and Fire-resistant: PVC foam does not degrade, melt or burn under heat. PVC foam boards can be used anywhere to insulate heat transfer, provide cushioning or reduce vibration impact.
- Easy to shape: With any utility knife, it is easy to cut PVC foam to the desired shape for your application. It is also mouldable, making it a great material for modelling, moulded seat cushions and sports equipment.
- Easy to colour: PVC foam holds paint and dye well, making it an excellent modelling and panelling material.
- Highly Durable: PVC foam is made up of high-density polymer chains, making it very resistant to damage or deformation.
Supplier of small and large quantities of PVC Foam
At Kirkfield Rubber and Adhesive Suppliers, we take orders of any size. Whether you require a small amount for home use or prototyping or want to purchase PVC foam in bulk, we can meet your requirement.
Thicknesses available for PVC Foam
Our foam splitting equipment allows us to create sheets of any thickness, from 1.5mm up to 60mm to an extremely tight tolerance. When placing an order, specify the thickness and dimensions required to ensure our PVC foam meets your needs.
We provide bespoke and custom PVC Foam
Our capabilities allow us to create PVC foam in a wide range of shapes, including flat sheets, continuous roll forms, strips in various widths and gasket shapes. We are also able to cut PVC foam to bespoke shapes as required, should you have an irregular pipe in need of a gasket, for example. We are also able to apply adhesive backing in single and double-sided configurations to create self-adhesive PVC foam that is easy to apply. PVC Foam FAQs
What is PVC Foam?
PVC or Poly Vinyl Chloride is a widely-used polymer plastic. When treated with additives and blowing agents, we can create PVC Foam or vinyl foam, which is a mixture of PVC and Polyurea. This creates a crosslinked polymer network, with high bond strength between atoms for a strong material. PVC foam is much less dense and almost half the weight of solid PVC of the same dimensions. It is also flexible, mouldable and durable. With a closed-cell structure, PVC foam has good water resistance and resistance to solvents, and its low particle density makes it a great insulator against heat, electricity and sound.
What are some uses of PVC Foam?
PVC foam is used in the marine industry due to its water-resistance, but has many varied commercial uses, including:
- Modelling material for Scale models and Theatrical props
- Seat cushions for wheelchairs and outdoor furniture
- Cushioned covers for photo albums and folders
- Seals and Gaskets
- Sports equipment
- Imitation leather
- Shoe insoles
- Cushioning for ski and snorkel masks
What are the main features of PVC Foam?
- PVC Foam is:
- Waterproof
- Durable
- Flexible
- Corrosion-resistant
- Fire and heat resistant
- Easily shaped
- Easily coloured
What are the grades of thickness in which we can supply PVC Foam?
Our foam splitting equipment allows us to create sheets of any thickness, from 1.5mm up to 60mm to an extremely tight tolerance. When placing an order, specify the thickness and dimensions required to ensure our PVC foam meets your needs.
